Chang Junhong Attends ASEAN+3 Finance and Central Bank Governors’ Meeting, and holds a series of Bilateral Meetings

The ASEAN+3 Finance and Central Bank Governors’ Meeting was held on May 3 in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. The meeting discussed regional macroeconomic outlook and key issues related to regional financial cooperation, reached multiple consensuses, and issued a joint statement. Chang Junhong, Assistant Minister of China’s Ministry of Finance, attended the meeting, and delivered remarks. 

Chang pointed out that amid multiple economic challenges, ASEAN+3 members should uphold multilateralism, strengthen macroeconomic policy communication and coordination, further deepen regional financial cooperation, and jointly maintain the stability and smooth functioning of industrial and supply chains, so as to make greater contributions to regional economic growth and financial stability. Chang briefed on Chinese economy and fiscal policy, stating that Chinas more proactive fiscal policy will prioritize expanding domestic demand, investing in people, and advancing scientific and technological innovation. Chang underscored China’s firm commitment to strengthening cooperation with all members to promote shared development and prosperity across the region.

On the sidelines of the meeting, Chang held bilateral discussions with Yuncheol Koo, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance and Economy of Korea; Seilava Ros, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Economy and Finance of Cambodia; Kevin Shum, Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Finance of Singapore; Zamzuri Abdul Aziz, Deputy Secretary General of the Ministry of Finance of Malaysia and Yasuto Watanaba, Director of ASEAN+3 Macroeconomic Research Office(AMRO). They exchanged views on global and regional macroeconomic situations, ASEAN+3 financial cooperation, and key bilateral cooperation issues.
