French Development Agency (AFD) held a celebration in Beijing on Nov 25 to mark 20 years of cooperation in China. Liao Min, China's Vice Minister of Finance, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech.

Liao said that, over the past two decades, China-French loan and knowledge cooperation has supported China’s regional economic development and livelihood improvement, introduced advanced technologies and management practices, and provided strong backing in areas such as climate change response, sustainable urban development and energy transition. These efforts have played a vital role in driving China’s economic transformation and achieving green, high-quality development. He noted that China-French financial cooperation has witnessed robust progress, making it an exemplary model of mutually beneficial cooperation.

Liao said China's reform and opening-up will continue to inject strong momentum into its economic and social development, creating new opportunities for global growth. China is willing to work with France to deepen practical financial cooperation, strengthen exchanges of development experiences, and advance green innovation partnerships, contributing our efforts for global poverty reduction and sustainable development.

China is ready to collaborate with France and other countries in the world to foster exchanges and cooperation, promote the building of a community with a shared future for mankind, and construct a better common home for all, Liao added.

Prior to the event, Liao held bilateral talks with AFD’s Chief Executive Officer Rémy Rioux, exchanging in-depth views on topics including China-French cooperation and AFD’s cooperation strategy in China.
