Liao Min, Vice Minister of Finance of China, attended and delivered a speech at the third AIIB-Host Country Engagement Workshop on May 22, 2024. Relevant ministries, local authorities, some financial institutions, and industry associations engaged in discussions with theAIIB on further deepening cooperation. Prior to the workshop, Liao met with senior management members of the AIIB in Beijing to exchange views on the AIIB's development.
Liao stated that Chinese President Xi Jinping proposed the establishment of the AIIB and has high expectations for its development. Through the collective efforts of various sides, the AIIB has achieved leapfrog development, evolving into a genuine multilateral development bank and a beneficial supplement to the international economic governance system. In the face of new risks and opportunities posed by climate change and digital transformation, the AIIB is leveraging infrastructure development to provide systemic solutions and continuously strengthens collaboration with other multilateral development banks to better assist developing countries in their economic transformation and development. China will continue to support the AIIB, enrich bilateral cooperation and make greater contribution to the reform of global economic governance.
Liao emphasized that the Chinese economy continues its positive recovery trend and remains a crucial driver of economic growth in the world and the Asia-Pacific region. China will persist in its reform and opening-up policies and promoting high-quality development, and continue to offer new opportunities for the world and the Asia-Pacific region.DOWNLOAD:
