Lan Fo'an attends China-Germany Dialogue Forum on Financial Cooperation

The China-Germany Dialogue Forum on Financial Cooperation was held in Beijing on April 11, 2024. The forum was co-chaired by Ministry of Finance of the People's Republic of China (MOF) and Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of the Federal Republic of Germany(BMZ). Lan Fo'an, Minister of Finance, attended and addressed the forum's opening ceremony. Jochen Flasbarth, State Secretary of BMZ, and Patricia Flor, German Ambassador to China, also attended the forum.Over 100 representatives from international organizations, relevant ministries, financial institutions, academia, local departments of finance and project-executing agencies participated in the event.

Lan said that over the past 40 years, the financial cooperation between China and Germany has made remarkable outcomes, enriching the China-Germany comprehensive strategic partnership and setting a role model of win-win cooperation for international development. The China-Germany loan cooperation has supported a number of key projects directly related to the China's economy and people's livelihood, introduced advanced international technology and management experience, cultivated project management and foreign affairs talents, and promoted the conceptual renewal and innovation in relevant industries.Noting that China and Germany have actively engaged in knowledge exchange, continuously adding new dimensions to their cooperation, Lan said that the two countries' international development cooperation has increasingly become a new area of cooperation, making positive contribution to the global common development.

Lan emphasized that looking towards the future, China, as a responsible major developing country, stands ready to promote development cooperation with countries worldwide, including Germany, in the spirit of mutual benefit and shared success, aiming for common prosperity and progress. To achieve these goals, Lan noted, the first is to innovate international development cooperation to promote sustainable global development; the second is to enhance the exchange and mutual learning of development experience to create new highlights of cooperation; and the third is to strengthen coordination in international affairs to build an open world economy. He expressed the hope that China and Germany will continue to work together, in a joint effort for pursuing common development and making new contributions to building a community with a shared future for mankind.

During the forum, China and Germany jointly released a commemorative photo album celebrating the 40th anniversary of China-Germany financial cooperation.
