Liu Kun attends NDB 8th Annual Meeting

The Eighth Annual Meeting of the New Development Bank (NDB) was held in Shanghai from May 30 to 31. 
 
Members of the Board of Governors and representatives of the NDB member states and NDB President Dilma Rousseff attended the meeting. 
 
Liu Kun, Minister of Finance of China, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech as the Chair of the NDB Board of Governors. 
 
Noting that the NDB is a major milestone of BRICS cooperation, Liu said that the Bank has become a major emerging force among international multilateral development organizations over the past eight years. 
 
The NDB should adhere to its mission and original aspiration while positioning itself from the strategic height of building a community with a shared future for mankind, effectively promote the economic and social development of emerging markets and developing countries and continue to contribute to global development, the minister said. 
 
Liu stressed that as a founding member and host country of the Bank, China will always follow President Xi Jinping’s instructions on making good efforts in establishing, safeguarding and developing the NDB, and continue to provide strong support for its further growth.
 
Wang Dongwei, Vice Minister of Finance of China, also attended the afore-mentioned event.
