The Ministry of Finance (MOF) and the French Development Agency (AFD) signed a loan agreement for the Shi Lake Ecological Environment Management project of the Sino-French Wuhan Ecological Demonstration City on December 30, 2022. 

 

The project includes eight sub-projects on river and lake dredging, source control and pollution interception, endogenous pollution control, water replenishment and flowing, ecological restoration, smart control, ancillary works, and institutional buildup as well as capacity strengthening. 

 

The total investment for the project amounts to 766 million yuan ($111.68 million), including a loan of 70 million euros from the AFD with a term of 20 years, including a grace period of six years.

 

The implementation of the project is conducive to improving the water ecological environment of the Wuhan section of the Yangtze River and the living environment of residents around Shi Lake, and promoting the sustainable development of the Sino-French Wuhan Ecological Demonstration City.
