On the morning of November 8, 2022, China's Ministry of Finance (MOF) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) held a meeting on fiscal policy as part of the 2022 IMF Article IV consultation with China. 

 

The two sides had an in-depth exchange of views on such issues as fiscal policy support for economic development in 2022 and the fiscal work plans for 2023. 

 

Li Hongxia, Deputy Director-General of the MOF's Department of International Economic and Financial Cooperation, chaired the meeting. Representatives of the MOF's Comprehensive Department, Budget Department, Tax Policy Department, and Department of Social Security participated in the discussion. 

 

Experts from the IMF, including Thomas Helbling, Deputy Director of the IMF's Asia and Pacific Department, and Sonali Jain-Chandra, Chief of China Division of the IMF's Asia and Pacific Department and China Mission Chief, also took part in the consultation meeting.
