MOF holds international seminar on Promoting Realization of China's ‘Dual Carbon' Goals

According to the 2022 work plan of the MOF’s Expert Studio on International Economic and Financial Affairs, the Department of International Economic and Financial Cooperation of the Ministry of Finance (MOF) held a virtual seminar themed on "Mobilizing International Cooperation Resources to Achieve China's ‘Dual Carbon’ Goals through Learning from International Experiences" on September 29 , co-organize by the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
 
Mr. Jin Lu, Deputy Director-General of the Department of International Economic and Financial Cooperation of the MOF and the studio's Executive Leader from the department, and Ms. M.Teresa Kho, Director-General of the East Asia Department at the ADB addressed the opening ceremony. 
 
Ms. Li Xu, Director of the Department of International Economic and Financial Cooperation of the MOF, Direct Lead of the Department for the Expert Studio chaired the meeting. 
 
Experts from the ADB, related agencies, well-known universities and think tanks, including the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), University Colleague London, New York University, Keio University and Massey University, shared their international experience and lessons on low-carbon transformation and green development, green finance reform and innovation, and green supply chains’ building. They also introduced the latest progress and possible impacts of Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) presented by the European Union (EU) on the developing countries. Relevant international organizations' financing policies targetting climate change adaption and mitigation,environmental protection,together with suggestions on how to achieve China's "dual carbon" goals were also proposed at the meeting. 
 
Mr. Huaqing Xu, Director-General of the National Center for Climate Change Strategy and International Cooperation, Mr. Dongxiao Chen, President of Shanghai Institute for International Studies, the partners of "Dual Carbon” research project of the Department of International Economic and Financial Cooperation of the MOF, as well as other members of the research team, attended the meeting and had a deep discussion with the experts.
 
Nearly 100 guests, including the representatives from the provincial-level financial departments of Heilongjiang, Jiangxi, Hubei, Sichuan and Yunnan participated in the meeting. 
 
The meeting laid a solid foundation for deepening research work and achieved its expected results.
