ADB holds Private Sector Impact Green Carpet Awards ceremony for outstanding non-sovereign projects in China

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) held an awards ceremony for its outstanding non-sovereign projects in China via video link on May 9. Awards were presented to eight enterprises for outstanding projects in China at the inaugural ceremony. During the meeting, ADB also introduced its non-sovereign business strategies, policies and operational procedures to the participants from financial departments nationwide in order to promote the cooperation between China and the ADB in non-sovereign operations.

Cheng Zhijun, Director-General of the Department of International Economic and Financial Cooperation of China's Ministry of Finance (MOF), and Ashok Lavasa, Vice-President for the ADB's Private Sector Operations and Public-Private Partnerships, delivered opening speeches at the meeting. Deputy Director-General Lu Jin of the MOF's Department of International Economic and Financial Cooperation, Director-General of the ADB's East Asia Department, and Deputy Director-General of the ADB's Private Sector Operations Department, as well as representatives of financial departments across China and enterprises participated in the meeting.

Cheng noted that China and the ADB have long maintained good partnership in the non-sovereign sector, adding that he hopes the ADB will further expand the scale of non-sovereign project cooperation in China, give more attention to project development impact and innovation, and strengthen stocktaking and replication of project experience, so as to provide more public goods for the economic development in the Asia-Pacific region while supporting high-quality development of China. He said that local financial departments could strengthen exchanges and communication with the ADB based on their needs, actively develop and recommend quality projects to ADB, so as to mobilize more international resources for local economic and social development.

Representatives of the eight award winners - Chongho Bridge, Far East Horizon Co Ltd, Kunming Hasfarm, New Hope Liuhe Co Ltd, China Everbright Group Ltd, China Water Environment Group Limited, Jointown Pharmaceutical Group Co Ltd and China Water Affairs Group Limited gave their acceptance speeches.

Representatives from the financial departments of Hubei, Yunnan, Liaoning, Fujian, Jiangxi, Sichuan, and Guangxi, made key speeches at the meeting.
