MOF successfully issues 6 billion yuan RMB-denominated treasury bonds in Hong Kong

The Ministry of Finance (MOF) issued RMB-denominated treasury bonds worth a total of 6 billion yuan ($941 million) to institutional investors in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region via tendering on Oct 20, its second issuance of such bonds this year.

The issuance attracted subscription from many institutional investors, with their total subscription amount reaching 13.29 billion yuan, 2.2 times of the issuance volume.

The 6 billion yuan treasury bond issuance included the 2-year tranche of 4.5 billion yuan with an issuance price of 99.82 yuan, equivalent to a yield of 2.5056 percent; and the 7-year tranche of 1.5 billion yuan with an issuance price of 105.1 yuan, equivalent to a yield of 2.7583 percent.

According to the issuance arrangement, the third batch of RMB-denominated treasury bonds in the amount of 6 billion yuan will be issued on Nov 17, 2021. The specific arrangements will be published by the Central Moneymarkets Unit (CMU) of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority in due time.
