On the morning of November 2, 2021, the Ministry of Finance (MOF) and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) held a meeting on fiscal policy during the 2021 IMF Article IV Consultation. The two sides discussed issues such as China’s fiscal policy stance, fiscal policy to promote economic rebalancing, local government financing and fiscal reforms. Li Hongxia, Deputy Director-General of the MOF’s Department of International Economic and Financial Cooperation, chaired the meeting. Representatives from the MOF’s Comprehensive Department, Budget Department, and Department of Natural Resources and Ecological Environment participated in the discussion and responded to the questions raised during the meeting. Helge Berger, Mission Chief and Assistant Director of the IMF's Asia and Pacific Department, and Steven Barnett, IMF Resident Representative in China, attended the consultation.
