This is the first project jointly supported by the Asia Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) and the New Development Bank for green and low-carbon development in China. The two new institutions respectively provided US$500 million and EUR€436 million, in parallel financing, as a preferential loan to the project, making it the single project in China receiving the largest amount of loans from international financial institutions in recent years. It is also the AIIB’s first sovereign loan project in China.

The project will contribute to defending the capital energy security and promoting low-carbon energy structure transformation and the integrated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region.
