China’s Vice Minister of Finance Liao Min met with Eyob Tekalign, Governor of the National Bank of Ethiopia, in Beijing on Sept 24. The two sides exchanged views on issues including China–Ethiopia financial cooperation and debt management.

Liao stressed that the China’s Ministry of Finance attaches great importance to cooperation with Ethiopia and stands ready to further deepen exchanges in the financial field, contributing to the continued growth of the all-weather strategic partnership between China and Ethiopia. He noted that China will continue to strengthen communication and cooperation with all parties, work together to help Ethiopia address its debt challenges, and support the country in achieving sustainable development.

Tekalign expressed appreciation to China for its long-standing valuable assistance in Ethiopia’s economic development and improvement of people’s livelihoods, as well as for its strong support in infrastructure development and debt management. He said that Ethiopia looks forward to maintaining close engagement with China and deepening practical cooperation in the financial field.
