Minister of Finance Liu Kun, along with chiefs and representatives of international financial organizations - the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, the Asian Development Bank, the Development Bank of Latin America, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the European Investment Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank, the International Fund for Agricultural Development and the World Bank Group - signed a memorandum of understanding on the establishment of a multilateral cooperation center for development finance at a ceremony held in Beijing on March 25, 2019.
Zou Jiayi, Vice Minister of Finance, moderated the ceremony.
Serving as a mechanism for coordinating multilateral cooperation on financing for infrastructure development, the center, by facilitating information sharing, project preparation and capacity building, is aimed at encouraging multilateral development banks and relevant development partners to support infrastructure connectivity, including the projects under the Belt and Road Initiative.
