The Customs Tariff Commission of the State Council Announces Adjustments to Additional Tariffs on U.S. Imports

In order to implement the important consensus reached in China-U.S. high-level economic and trade meeting, and in accordance with relevant laws and regulations of China, including the Tariffs Law of the Peoples Republic of China, the Customs Law of the Peoples Republic of China, the Foreign Trade Law of the Peoples Republic of China, as well as fundamental principles of international law, the Customs Tariff Commission of the State Council, with the approval of the State Council, announces that the additional tariff rate stipulated in the Announcement on Imposing Tariffs on Imports Originating from the United States (Announcement No. 4 of 2025) will be adjusted from 34 percent to 10 percent, while the 24 percent additional tariff rate will be suspended for 90 days, effective from 12:01 p.m. on May 14, 2025. The additional tariff measures specified in the Announcement on Adjusting Tariffs on Imports Originating from the United States (Announcement No. 5 of 2025) and the Announcement on Adjusting Tariffs on Imports Originating from the United States (Announcement No. 6 of 2025) will cease to be implemented, effective from 12:01 p.m. on May 14, 2025.

The reduction of bilateral tariffs is in line with the expectations of producers and consumers in both countries, and is conducive to the economic and trade exchange between China and the United States, as well as the global economy.
