The Customs Tariff Commission of the State Council Announces Additional Tariffs on All U.S. Imports

April 4, 2025 |Print |Mail |Large    Medium    Small

On April 2, 2025, the United States government announced the imposition of “reciprocal tariffs” on Chinese exports to the United States, a move that contravenes international trade regulations, seriously infringes upon Chinas legitimate rights and interests, and exemplifies unilateralism and bullying. This action not only harms the interests of the United States itself but also poses a significant threat to global economic development and the stability of global supply chains.

In accordance with relevant laws and regulations of China, including the Tariffs Law of the Peoples Republic of China, the Customs Law of the Peoples Republic of China, and the Foreign Trade Law of the Peoples Republic of China, as well as fundamental principles of international law, the Customs Tariff Commission of the State Council, with the approval of the State Council, announces the imposition of an additional 34 percent tariff on all imported U.S. products starting from 12:01 p.m. on April 10, 2025. Goods that have departed the place of origin before 12:01 p.m. on April 10, 2025, and are imported between 12:01 p.m. on April 10, 2025, and 12:00 a.m. on May 14, 2025, will not be subject to the additional tariffs.

China urges the United States to immediately lift its unilateral tariff measures and resolve trade disputes through consultation based on equality, mutual respect and mutual benefit.
